SkyStream TV

SkyStream TV is a new streaming service there has been some controversy surrounding whether or not it is legal.  Based on the fact that they have apps on most of the major streaming devices (Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, and Aondroid TV, and Apple TV is coming soon).  I’m going to go ahead and say that they are legit.

And they seem worth checking out!

  • 7 day free trial
  • $35 per month
  • 50 hours of cloud DVR
  • 7 day playback (playback live shows from the past 7 days and fast forward through commercials)
  • Add on premium channels: HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax
  • $5/month gets your 5 screens to watch, I’m not sure how many screens you get without the upgrade

When you sign up for SkyStream TV, they say that you must first log in to your account on a “primary device”.  They define a primary device as a Roku (stick, box or TV), Amazon Fire devices, or Android (box or TV).  After you log in on your primary device, you will be able to download the app and watch on the go.

Local Channels

I don’t see any information about local channels on SkyStream’s website.  However, they do include, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC AND PBS.

Be aware that while they offer these channels, what you see may not be your local broadcast.

Sports

SkyStream TV offers lots of sports channels.  On their website they also state, “Our contract with the channels we offer ensures that there are no sports blackouts period!”

I’m not sure what to make of this or how it would work.  If there’s a big game local game coming up and you want to try SkyStream, be sure you have an alternate method to watch (an antenna, or another streaming service) just in case SkyStream isn’t broadcasting your game.

That’s it!

That’s our last streaming service!  If you’d like to try out SkyStream, click here for your free trial.
