You certainly don’t need a Live TV Streaming Service but most people want to have one. You will be able to watch live TV and on demand shows and movies.
This will be one of the most complicated decisions you’ll make when you start streaming. Here are factors you should consider when choosing a streaming service:
FIRST – what channels do you want? This is the most important factor. Each service provides a certain set of channels.
SECOND – How many TVs will be using this streaming service at the same time? “Number of screens” refers to the number of devices that can view the streaming service at the same time. If you have multiple TV watchers in your house (this includes TVs, phones, tablets and computers) you want to make sure you can all watch at the same time without issues. (If one person is watching Netflix and someone else is watching Sling TV, that doesn’t count. They have to be using the same service for the “number of screens” to come into effect).
Once you narrow your choices down using those 2 factors, then give them a try! All of them offer a free trial period. So try one out for a week. Take notes about what you like and don’t like. Do you like the interface? Is moving around the menu and channels intuitive to you?
There are 8 streaming services on this list, most have a 7 day free trial. That is potential for 8 weeks of FREE TV!
Some of these services offer DVR, some don’t. Some offer local channels (that vary based on where your billing address is located) and some don’t. You can get local channels on your antenna, if your streaming service doesn’t provide them.
